How did she became a Gym Leader?

Lola thought that she would be a Grass Gym Leader, but instead she was chosen to be a Fire Gym Leader instead because of her hair despite she has no interest in Fire Type Pokemons. She was considering giving this rank to someone else, but as time went on, she changed her mind as she realized that Fire was better than every types.
